One of the most important American football events took place on Sunday, February 9, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The final score was Philadelphia Eagles with 40 points and Kansas Chiefs with 22 points. Fans of either side cried, booed or celebrated. Food of choice for many Americans included chicken wings, tortilla chips, guacamole, ribs, coleslaw, chicken enchiladas covered with green chile sauce. Favorite drinks were lime-flavored “Margaritas” spiked with tequila, light beer and colored sparkling fruit waters. Winners even poured Gatorade over the Philadelphia Eagles’ head-coach Nick Sirianni. The smiling young man took the liquid in stride and thanked the Lord for it. Many celebrity bystanders, fans and guests took sides; they clapped, jumped for joy or hid and were booed. Even the U.S. President attended the game. It was the first time ever for a sitting President. He was keeping his fingers crossed for his favorite team. Who knows which team?!

ON GATORADE AND WHY YELLOW GATORADE ON PHILADELPHIA EAGLES’ HEAD COACH NICK SIRIANNI?
GATORADE, the very American colored drink, was created in the 1965. It was developed by researchers at the University of Florida’s College of Medicine. It was meant to be the drink that helped athletes to quickly replace fluids lost during sport practices. Tested on the Florida Gators football team, the drink turned out to help weight loss and reduce heat exhaustion. After the formula was acquired by Stokely-Van Camp in 1967, the drink was produced and sold nationwide. Later, GATORADE was distributed worldwide. Now the drink is produced and marketed by PEPSI.

The tradition of pouring liquid over a winning sport team’s coach apparently dates back to before GATORADE’s invention. According to my friend Tom, when he was young, winning teams poured a bucket of water over their head coach. It was a simple but memorable celebration. Later, according to Rolling Stone Magazine, the pouring of water transformed into a new tradition. Teams began pouring GATORADE over the coach’s head. The New York Giants initiated the first GATORADE dumping episode. This occurred when former-player Jim Burt poured Gatorade on then-coach Bill Parcells. This event was after the team’s win in 1984. Since then, GATORADE came not only in yellow, but in various other colors and flavors.
After the Philadelphia Eagles won their first Super Bowl against the New England Patriots in 2018, they made a choice. They decided to pour YELLOW GATORADE over their head coach. When the Eagles recently won over the Kansas Chiefs they again poured YELLOW GATORADE over their coach Nick Sirianni. As for GATORADE pouring colors for the Kansas Chiefs, they have so far used PURPLE GATORADE!
MY FRIEND BOB’S 2025 SUPER BOWL’S BONELESS “CHICKEN WINGS”
These boneless “chicken wings” are actually chicken breasts and not wings, and they don’t take long to prepare. Start early because they do have to refrigerate for 30 minutes!
Ingredients: 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour, 1 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. black pepper, 1 tsp. paprika, 1 cup milk, 1 whole egg, enough frying oil.
Cut chicken into small chunks. Whisk together milk and egg. In a plastic bag, mix flour, salt, pepper and paprika. Shake well. Dip the chicken pieces into the milk/egg mixture and toss them into the flour. Put the “wings” on a baking sheet covered with wax paper and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Heat the oil to a frying temperature. For peanut oil, heat to 440-450 F. For olive oil, heat to 350-400 F. For vegetable oil, heat to 375 F. Fry the pieces of chicken for 6 minutes total. Cook them for 3 minutes on each side until they are golden brown. Place the pieces on a paper towel to cool. Serve them with either with BBQ sauce or ranch dressing.
NOTE: You bake the “chicken wings” instead of frying them. Place the pieces of chicken on a greased foil-lined rimmed baking sheet. Bake at 400 F for 25-30 minutes.
A SIMPLE 2025 SUPER BOWL GUACAMOLE FOR 4-6

To complete: add lime or lemon juice to taste. Include a little fresh chopped cilantro and a small peeled chopped onion. Add a couple of chopped ripe tomatoes and a seeded chopped Chili pepper.

KANSAS CHIEFS SUPER BOWL WINS
1970 Super Bowl IV
2020 Super Bowl LIV
2023 Super Bowl LVII
2024 Super Bowl LVIII
TOTAL SUPER BOWL WINS: 4
By 2025 the Kansas Chiefs had four Super Bowl wins; the first in 1970 when QB Len Dawson and the Chiefs defeated the Vikings.
The first Super Bowl ring in the Mahomes era came in 2019 when Kansas City defeated San Francisco in Super Bowl 54. After losing in Super Bowl 55 to Tampa Bay and falling short of a Super Bowl 56 appearance, the Chiefs got their third ring in 2022, defeating the Eagles in Super Bowl 57.
Kansas City successfully defended its title in 2023 by knocking off San Francisco again. Thanks to players such as Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce the Kansas Chiefs won three more Super Bowls and in 2025 the team was on the verge of picking up another!
When in 2025 the Kansas Chiefs lost against the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans the crowd booed, cried, screamed, jumped up and down and waved and…A few days later Travis Kelce no. 87 of the Chiefs was heard speaking about retirement!
GOOD LUCK TO THE KANSAS CHIEFS AND TO TRAVIS KELCE! GOOD LUCK ALSO TO THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES, TO JALEN HURTS, TO NICK SIRIANNI AND TO ALL GATORADE FANS!
